You will never be short of something to do in Surfers Paradise. During the day you can relax on the famous sands of Surfers Paradise Beach under the watchful eye of the Lifesavers. Cool yourself down in the ocean or paddle out and catch some waves on your board.
Remember to check the Beach Safety signs as these will give you a good idea on the water conditions and also if there are any nasty blue bottles or jelly fish in the water.
After a long day at the beach – grab some dinner at one of the many restaurants and take yourself out for a night dancing with friends. Surfers Paradise is party central of the Gold Coast. Most of the clubs and bars are along Cavill Avenue, Orchid Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway. There is always a new bar emerging on the scene.
Surfers Paradise also lights up when the Armor All Gold Coast 600 comes to town. By day, the streets are buzzing with fast cars and the pavement awash in people. By night, the party really gets started.
Schoolies Week held annually for high school leavers is just another excuse to party. For 3 weeks Surfers Paradise is taken over by year 12 leavers enjoying their first breath of freedom.
Don’t be misled – Surfers Paradise is also a great place for families with lots of wonderful restaurants catering to families, amusement arcades and places to hire body boards and learn to surf schools on the beach, plus many tourist attractions such as Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, the Gold Coast Wax Museum, Infinity, Draculas Haunted House and numerous cruises and tours departing from here. Just make sure you remember the sunscreen
Surfers Paradise is also a shopper’s paradise. From chic stores along Elkhorn Avenue, Duty Free and Souvenir shops along the Gold Coast Highway and Surf Wear that lines Cavill Avenue, there is definitely something for everyone’s tastes in this bustling centre. Many of the stores stay open until late at night so you can indulge in a night time retail fix.
Friday nights along The Esplanade is the Surfers Paradise Lantern Craft Markets. This part of The Esplanade is closed off and the boardwalk brightens with stalls ranging from food, ceramics, glassware, candles and other craft wares.
There are also main shopping centres in the area – Chevron Renaissance, Circle on Cavill, Cavill Lane, Soul Boardwalk and the Paradise Centre.
Surfers Paradise is located close to the Gold Coast’s major hospitals – Pindarra, Allamanda and the Gold Coast Hospital.
